Did You Say Sobriety?

Authenticity, Vulnerability & Sobriety

A note from David

About two years ago, I got fully sober. Even this far in, the social aspect can still be difficult. Almost every event is centered around alcohol, and I started finding myself less inclined to venture out into group settings because the pressure to drink is so strong.

There was another reason my group socializing slowed - recently, a friend mentioned, “the best part of getting sober is that you feel all your feelings. The worst part of getting sober is that you feel all your feelings.” These days I feel much more in tune with my body and my emotions, for better AND worse. It became harder to enter spaces without knowing that space would be held for authenticity and vulnerability.

At the heart of Soil & Sky is the idea of connection—to the Earth, music, and each other. Part of the joy of curating this festival is exploring the ways people connect deeply with an experience, and intentionally shaping each of those paths. We’re here to say that we honor the sober festival experience, for those who choose it, which is why we’re thrilled to present today’s spotlight vendor: Boro Beverage!
